FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Smokebrush Partners To Save

The Uncle Wilber Fountain

May 3, 2010

Smokebrush Foundation is steering a campaign to keep the Uncle Wilber Fountain flowing full-time this summer. Due to City of Colorado Springs budget cuts and recession related fundraising challenges faced by the Uncle Wilber Fountain, the City Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Department originally faced a truncated summer fountain season. The Smokebrush Foundation, who designed and donated the fountain in 2000, is stepping up and partnering with the Gay & Lesbian Fund For Colorado to launch a Matching Challenge Grant Campaign geared toward raising the additional $18,000 so the Uncle Wilber Fountain can continue to kick, spurt, spin and sing full time this summer!

Thanks to this partnered challenge grant from the Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado and the Smokebrush Foundation, donors have the opportunity to DOUBLE THEIR DONATIONS in support of the Uncle Wilber Fountain!

Donating is easy. Make a tax-deductible donation online by visiting Smokebrush's website at www.smokebrush.org where you can also download a mail-in form. All donations are received by The Uncle Wilber Fund through the Pikes Peak Community Foundation, a 501c3.

Here's how the Challenge Matching Grant works: contributions from new donors to the PPCF Uncle Wilber Fountain Fund will be matched dollar for dollar; contributions from current supporters will be matched for their increase in gift.
Our goal is to raise $9,000 in new contributions by May 31. This $9,000 will be matched by the Smokebrush Foundation and Gay & Lesbian Fund For Colorado to meet the total goal of $18,000. Any surplus in donations from this campaign will still benefit the Uncle Wilber Fountain by providing much needed maintenance and replacement parts that otherwise would not occur this year.

Smokebrush Foundation is able to participate in this challenge due to a generous contribution from the Bristol Brewing Company. Bristol Brewing makes the Smokebrush Porter Beer whose sales proceeds benefit the foundation's efforts, including the ongoing support of the Uncle Wilber Fountain. Additional support was provided by Kat & Bob Tudor, the artists who designed the fountain.
